Welcome to the Halesowen Wing Chun Grading Syllabus
Welcome to the Chum Kiu grading Syllabus taught by Sifu Alan Bagley at the Halesowen Wing Chun Kwoon 馆
The Chum Kiu section of the Wing Chun syllabus is taking all the acquired knowledge from the foundation of Siu Nim Tao and aims to build upon that.
Adding more dynamic energy and focus on turning and stepping.
A few maxims of Chum Kiu
Chum Kiu trains the stance and waist.
The arm-bridge is short and the steps are narrow.
Strive to remain calm in the midst of motion, loosen up the muscles and relax the mind.
Turning the stance with a circular movement will allow a superior generation of power.
Wing Chun's second set is called Chum Kiu which means "Searching for the Bridge."
The word Chum means Searching; Kiu is a Bridge or Forearm. Chum Kiu indicates a search for an opponent.
This implies closing the distance, sticking and controlling an adversary in combat.
As a technique, Chum Kiu is associated with the idea of searching, chasing and closing the gap.
Basic mobility plays a significant role in this form.
Where is the opponent's bridge to be found? Chum Kiu guides the way.
For personal skill development practice at home is vital, with and without a partner.
